Physical Therapy
Physical therapists (PT) focus on the whole body and use various forms of exercise and manual techniques, often in conjunction with physical modalities such as heat, ice, ultrasound and electrical stimulation. The staff has specializations in many areas to accommodate patients’ specific needs.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists (OT) help people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapy practitioners promote health and prevent - or live better with - injury, illness or disability.
Speech-Language Therapy
Speech language pathologists (SLP) work to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat language, speech, voice, swallowing and cognitive communication disorders, which may follow a head injury, surgery, stroke, neurological diseases, oral/laryngeal cancer or other illnesses.
Specialty Programs
Aquatic Therapy
Using warm water exercises actually decreases the amount of stress on your joints, which decreases pain and stiffness. Because the water offers resistance in every direction, opposing muscles work equally. That means you’ll effectively develop muscular strength, endurance and joint flexibility.
Lymphedema Management
Lymphedema is the abnormal swelling of an extremity or area due to a malfunctioning lymph system or removal or damage of lymph nodes or vessels. Management of this chronic and progressive disease is done through complete decongestive therapy (CDT), skin hygiene, manual lymphatic drainage (MLD), bandaging and compression and remedial exercise.
LSVT BIG and LOUD
Lee Silverman voice treatment (LSVT) programs are evidence-based therapies designed to assist patients experiencing neurological disorders affecting their communication and movement. LSVT LOUD speech therapy improves communication in daily living and LSVT BIG physical therapy improves mobility and movement used in everyday function.
Pelvic Health
Pain and dysfunction can severely impact day-to-day life. Pelvic floor PT focuses on normalizing the muscle tone of the pelvic floor and restoring the balance between the pelvis, low back and hips. With the right information and proper treatment plan, PT can make a significant difference in pelvic floor function and help restore quality of life.
Sports Rehab
DeTar Crossroads Outpatient Rehabilitation Clinic provides specialized care for young and adult athletes looking to recover from their injuries faster and return their body’s performance to its peak. The team works with you to help you bounce back from sports injury and up your game to a new level.
Physical therapy can be effective treatment for prenatal or postpartum pain and dysfunction, post-gynecological surgery recovery, incontinence, pelvic floor weakness and pelvic pain. Specialized therapists at DeTar Outpatient Rehabilitation Center use strengthening exercises, muscle stimulation and specialized equipment to achieve results quickly and safely.
A physician’s order is required to participate in these programs.
