DeTar Healthcare System offers educational programs for soon-to-be moms at DeTar Hospital North's Women and Children's Center.
Prenatal Classes
Your pregnancy and the delivery of your child will be some of the most exciting moments in your life. The goal of the childbirth educators at Women and Children's Center at DeTar Hospital North is to help you and your support person understand the process of labor and delivery and to answer questions about the birth of your child. The more knowledge you have about pregnancy and delivery, the more likely you will look forward to this experience with confidence and as a positive experience. The childbirth education classes consist of 3 classes. These classes are held one evening per week from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are free of charge. Classes are held every other month so sign up soon.

Nutrition in Pregnancy
You may call to arrange an individual appointment to meet with a registered dietitian to discuss nutrition in pregnancy.

Breastfeeding Basics
The Breastfeeding Basics class is designed to inform soon-to-be moms of the numerous benefits of breastfeeding and will also discuss the fundamentals of breastfeeding (latching on and positioning). The class will also address common barriers to breastfeeding and educate women on resources that are available to help make breastfeeding a success. This class is held once a month and is free for expectant mothers.

CPR Class
Class includes adult, child and infant cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The classes will be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Class is free for new moms who deliver at DeTar Healthcare System and one adult of her choice.
