Thank You for Supporting the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive
4/2/2025
On behalf of DeTar Healthcare System, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Crossroads community for the overwhelming support of DeTar’s Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive. Thanks to your generosity, we collected an incredible 4,200 jars of peanut butter for the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent (FBGC), helping provide a crucial source of nutrition to families in need across 11 counties.
Peanut butter is one of the most requested items at food banks due to its nutritional value, long shelf life, and ability to provide lasting sustenance. Unfortunately, it is also one of the least donated. Your contributions have made a tangible difference for thousands of individuals facing food insecurity in our region.
This effort would not have been possible without the collaboration of local businesses, organizations, and volunteers who came together to make this initiative a success. I would especially like to thank the 40 locations that graciously hosted donation barrels:
- UHV - University Center Building
- Victoria College Student Services Building
- Texas A&M AgriLife Extension
- Victoria County Public Health Dept
- Meals on Wheels
- City of Victoria
- Cal-Com Federal Credit Union
- DeTar Hospital Navarro, DeTar Hospital North, DeTar on Demand, DeTar Health & Fitness Center, DeTar Cancer Center, DeTar Physician Office Building, DeTar Outpatient Rehabilitation Center and DeTar Outpatient Rehabilitation Center - Springwood
- Dollar General - Victoria (Multiple Locations)
- Dollar General - Wharton, Telferer, Refugio, Matagorda, Edna, Colorado and DeWitt
- New Century Hospice
- Victoria Public Library
- Eastside Baptist Church - Gonzales
- Goliad County EMS
- City of Cuero
- City of Yorktown
- The Cuero Record
- Cuero Municipal Library
- City Hall - City of Yoakum
- Yorktown Chamber of Commerce
- First United Methodist Church - Calhoun Co.
Additionally, I want to acknowledge the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent for their partnership and commitment to fighting hunger in our community with special thanks to Robin Cadle, Meridith Byrd and Valerie Fowler. Through their distribution network, these donations will reach families, seniors, and children who need them the most.
The success of this year’s drive demonstrates the power of unity and compassion in making a difference. At DeTar, we call that making the DeTar Difference. While this initiative has ended, the fight against hunger continues. I encourage everyone to support the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent through donations or volunteering to ensure no one in our community goes without a meal.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Together, we are spreading love, one jar at a time.
Sincerely,
Bernard Leger
