DeTar Healthcare System Announces Collection of 4,200 Jars for Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive Supporting the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent
4/2/2025
DeTar Healthcare System is thrilled to announce the success of the Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive, which collected an incredible 4,200 jars of peanut butter for the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent (FBGC). This initiative, aimed at addressing food insecurity across 11 counties, was met with overwhelming support from the Crossroads community.
"Peanut butter is one of the most requested yet least donated items at food banks due to its nutritional value and long shelf life,” said Bernard Leger, CEO of DeTar Healthcare System. “Thanks to the generosity of our community and the efforts of our partners, we have made a meaningful impact in the fight against hunger. At DeTar, we call that "making the DeTar Difference.”
The success of this drive was made possible through the collaboration of local businesses, organizations, and individuals who came together to support those in need. Donation barrels were hosted at 40 locations across the region, thanks to the incredible coordination of the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, demonstrating the power of community engagement in tackling food insecurity. Donations were also collected online at the Food Bank’s website, with one jar of peanut butter purchased for every $2 donated.
Robin Cadle, Executive Director of the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, expressed deep gratitude for the support. “The Jars of Love Peanut Butter Drive ensures that families, seniors, and children facing food insecurity will have access to a nutritious and versatile food source. We are incredibly thankful to DeTar Healthcare System and the entire community for their dedication to fighting hunger.”
Through FBGC’s distribution network, the donated peanut butter will reach families who need it most, providing a lasting source of sustenance. The campaign’s success highlights the importance of continued support for the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent and the 100 community organizations and food pantries they support in 11 counties, whether through donations or volunteer efforts.
While the Jars of Love drive has ended, the fight against hunger continues. DeTar Healthcare System and the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent encourage ongoing community involvement to ensure that no one in our region goes without a meal. For more information on how to support the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, visit www.tfbgc.org.
