DeTar Healthcare System Celebrates Doctor’s Day with Charitable Contribution to VISD Education Foundation
4/2/2025
In honor of Doctors' Day on March 30, DeTar Healthcare System chose to give back to the community by making charitable contributions instead of traditional gifts to its medical staff. As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering future healthcare professionals, DeTar donated a total of $6,000 to support local initiatives.
Of that amount, $5,000 was awarded to the VISD Education Foundation to help fund a healthcare career development program for high school students. The grant will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities and includes the purchase of an EKG machine for the Certified Medical Medical Assistant (CMMA) program, enhancing the quality of training for aspiring medical professionals. “Currently, teachers in the CMMA program rely on ‘old school’ readouts and ‘point-and-tell’ techniques to train students on ECG use,” said Aaron Glaeske, executive director of the VISD Education Foundation. “This new equipment will significantly enhance instruction, benefiting hundreds of students over the years and better preparing them for careers in the medical field.”
