Recognizing the Vital Role of OT in Restoring Independence and Enhancing Lives
4/4/2025
This April, DeTar Healthcare System proudly celebrates Occupational Therapy Month, recognizing the dedicated professionals who help patients regain independence and improve their quality of life through customized therapy.
Occupational therapy (OT) focuses on helping individuals of all ages perform daily activities after illness, injury, or disability. Whether recovering from a stroke, managing arthritis, or adapting to new physical challenges, occupational therapists provide personalized interventions that restore function and confidence.
At DeTar Healthcare System, OT services include:
- Rehabilitation after injury or surgery – Helping patients regain mobility, coordination, and strength
- Stroke recovery and neurological rehabilitation – Assisting in relearning essential skills
- Pediatric therapy – Supporting children with developmental delays and motor skill challenges
- Hand therapy – Addressing conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and post-surgical recovery
- Adaptive strategies and assistive devices – Teaching techniques to maintain independence in daily tasks
"Our occupational therapists are an essential part of our rehabilitation team, helping patients regain the ability to perform daily activities that are often taken for granted," said Jaclyn Adamek, P.T., MPT, director of rehabilitation services at DeTar Healthcare System. "Their work is not just about recovery; it’s about empowering patients to return to meaningful activities and improve their overall well-being."
As part of Occupational Therapy Month, DeTar Healthcare System encourages the community to learn more about the benefits of OT and recognize the professionals who make a difference every day.
