DeTar Cancer Center Donates $2,526.00 to Crossroads Guardians of Hope
2/21/2025
On February 19, DeTar Cancer Center presented a donation of $2,526 to Crossroads Guardians of Hope, a local non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by cancer in the Crossroads region. These funds were raised through the sale of t-shirts and a special breast cancer breakfast organized by DeTar Cancer Center staff. Contributions came directly from the generosity of DeTar Healthcare System employees, who rallied together to support the cause.
Crossroads Guardians of Hope offers vital assistance to local cancer patients, providing financial support and raising awareness in the region. The organization also maintains a fleet of pink vehicles, including a fire engine, ambulance, and patrol car, to help spread messages of hope and honor cancer fighters and survivors. Their efforts focus on alleviating the financial burden cancer can place on individuals and families, with proceeds from fundraising initiatives going toward patient assistance needs and operational costs. The organization will hold their annual fundraiser “Project Tickled Pink Masquerade Gala” on May 3 at the Victoria Community Center. The event raises funds to be given to people who have been burdened by the many expenses that cancer creates, including fuel, hotel stay, parking, cancer medications and other needs. DeTar Healthcare System is proud to sponsor this event, as well support with the donation of $2,526 to assist with this program.
"DeTar is honored to support Crossroads Guardians of Hope, whose commitment to helping cancer patients and their families is invaluable," said Bernard Leger, CEO of DeTar Healthcare System. "Cancer affects so many in our community, and it is our duty to stand beside those who are fighting this battle. By giving back, we hope to offer some relief and show those in need that they are not alone."
